Kayak Instruction Courses

Our current range of kayak courses includes:

Introductory Sea Kayak Course.  $225.00 per person

Sea kayaking can be a fun and exciting way to explore our beautiful coastline. We have designed this course for those new to sea kayaking, or for paddlers who have had little or no formal instruction and wish to improve their basic skills. It will run over one evening session, followed by a full day on Lyttleton Harbour.

During the winter months, our sea kayak courses are on hold. However, if you are interested in any specialist training or instruction, please contact us and we will be able to discuss your requirements.

Multisport Grade II Certification

For information and dates of Grade II Certificate courses, please contact us in store.

Kayak Rolling Course. $195.00 (includes pool entry). Kayak hire additional.

Whether you paddle on the sea, lake or river, having the ability to roll your kayak will enahnce your
safety and increase your confidence in your kayak. We offer a three session course in the warmth and comfort of a heated pool to teach you the basics of rolling in a short white-water kayak. You can then transfer this learning to you own kayak.

Tailored Individual Instruction. POA

We appreciate that not all paddlers are at the same level of skill and one of our courses might not be suitable for you.
You may be wanting to polish your roll, perfect your paddling technique or learn more about different methods of self rescuing. You may want to learn how to launch and land your sea kayak through surf. You may be a group of paddlers wanting to know how to get more out of your kayaking.

We are able to tailor individual instruction to suit your needs and/or the needs of your group.

Kayak Demonstration Sessions. Free!

We also host demonstration days/evenings during the warmer months giving you an opportunity to try a number of kayaks before choosing the one best suited to your needs.
