Canoe & Outdoor World had been long established as one of New Zealand’s leading specialist kayak stores. Since opening in 1991, we had been supplying kayaks, equipment and advice to paddlers from all over New Zealand.
Following the earthquake of February 2011, the business closed and ceased operating from Pilgrim Place. But with the closing of one business, there was the opening of another! KayakWorld is located at 35 Moorehouse Ave (The Hagley Park end) and carries the same brands that were in store at the COW. KayakWorld is now the destination for paddlers looking for leading brands of kayaks and quality equipment. Look for us in the same building as MapWorld and there is plenty of free parking right outside the door.

Winter store hours are: Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.30 pm.
Our friendly Staff are active and enthusiastic kayakers who have a wealth of specialist knowledge
in sea kayaking and white water kayaking. Whatever your interest and skill level, from novice to experienced and seasoned paddler, we will be able to fit you into the kayak and gear to suit your needs.

We are also agents for Thule roof-rack systems and stock an extensive range to fit just about all makes and models of vehicles enabling you to carry your kayak, cycle or snow sport gear safely
and securely.
We have a demonstration/hire fleet of kayaks includes all of the Q-Kayaks range and these can be taken for a test paddle, or hired from us at competitive rates. Demonstration days/evenings are held regularly during the warmer months giving you an opportunity to try a number of kayaks before choosing the one best suited to your needs.
